What a Treat!

This weekend was truly a gift.

It felt overwhelming in nearly every way, but at the end of it all I feel overwhelmingly blessed.

In the last week...
We put our house on the market.
Got told we needed to leave multiple times for multiple different views.
Cleaned the house multiple times to prep for those views.
Had the blower motor die on our furnace/AC.
Tracked and a service person who would take care of it and deal with the warrantee stuff.
Went on an awesome family day trip to Callaway Park in Calgary to use a going away gift we received from the awesome people of Central Baptist Church.
Accepted an offer on our house.
Cleaned and left for more views.
Facilitated a wedding rehearsal.
Viewed hundreds of listings of possible homes in Ontario.
Prepared a wedding talk.
Performed a wedding for some super rad past students.
Prepared a sermon for probably my last time at Central.
Preached twice at Central for probably the last time.
Told the community I love that I'd be moving as early as this weekend!
Said tearful goodbyes.

Yikes.. no wonder I'm ready to go to bed!

In all of this though, I can say with certainty that this weekend has been an absolute treat!

Preaching at Central for the last time on Sunday was hard, but good. To be able to stand in front of those congregations and again speak of the ways I've seen Jesus be faithful in my life time and time again. What a gift.

I was overcome when we closed the service declaring, "Christ is enough for me."

This season has been hard. The uncertainty of so many things has weighed on us for sure. Yet Jesus' Peace, Love, Presence has been constant through it all. To be able to rejoice with that community one more time, to be able to be a voice inviting that community into the depths of obedience to the call of Jesus ... what a treat.

The wedding on Saturday. What a treat.

To be invited again into the journeys of two young people I love so much and whom I have known for so long. What a treat.

And at the reception. To be surrounded again by so many we've shared life with over the years. To be honoured during the father of the Bride's speech in such a way. Wow. What. A. Treat!

And then, to top it all off.

Ryley, one of my students from the earliest years of being at Central, took note of how many CSM grads or leaders of old were there and he coordinated a photo with us all.

Wow. What a treat.

It's bonkers hard to believe that this season is coming to an end. But a weekend like this reminds me of how real and rich and life-giving this season has been.

This place will forever feel like home. These people will forever be family.
