Oops…

It would appear that one are that I have certainly NOT excelled in during this global pandemic is blogging regularly - or at all really! Oops.

In some ways I feel like I haven’t had much to say since life-as-we-know-it disappeared. Yet in other ways I feel like this new normal has filled my life with all sorts of awesome adventures.

I want to keep this short, because I have a super fun announcement I plan to make in the next few days. But I figured I’d break my silence with some quick updates.

First... my last past was entitled, “Why Welland?” It was a job announcement! More than that it was a hope-filled message about what I believed my future in Welland could look like. Well, to make a long story very short... that job didn’t work out. I don’t want to get into the reasons in an online post months later, but in short, it just seemed that there were some alignment issues between myself and the organization.

As it turned out though, loosing my job was a well-timed blessing. Pretty much the same time I was going to be looking for ways to fill my time, school got cancelled and I became a stay-at-home Dad / substitute teacher / home school parent!

The months that followed were filled with much of what I’m sure you all experienced.

Second... I’ve heard it said that people will respond to this pandemic by becoming the best of who they want to be or receding into less-than-awesome patterns. Or something like that. It’s not that I want to say that I’ve achieved some “best version of my self,” but I do feel like COVID has opened the door for me to step into some disciplines that I’ve longed after for a some time!

As for updates... the family is doing quite well. The boys survived “school” - or whatever we want to call the attempt to do educational things from March to June.

Turns out living in Ontario during the summer is pretty awesome for someone who LOVES the heat! I’m sure that this summer alone I’ve experienced more 30C+ days than I did in the whole 17 years of living in Alberta combined! I absolutely love the heat, so no complaints from here!

We’ve found all sorts of cool hikes to do along the Niagara Escarpment, some great beaches along Lake Erie and we’ve even gone camping twice!

Again, I apologize for going so long without providing some updates on life. There’s more activity from me on Instagram, including the periodic #cookingwithJud video!

Like I said, I have a VERY VERY exciting announcement that I’ll share about in the next few days! I’ll give two hints... it’s about me getting old, and it involves one of my favourite places!

Stay tuned!
